Title Deeds 1693-1798

"Schedule of the Deeds and Writings relating the Title of several freehold Messuages Lands Tenements parcels of Ground Hereditaments and Premises situate Lying and being at Little Corby in the Parish of Hayton and County of Cumberland belonging to Walter Irwin and by him given in Mortgage to John Kirkbride of Edenbanks in the Parish of Wetheral in the said county yeoman for securing the sum of Three hundred pounds and Interest.

21st June 1673. Deed poll from William Hall to Robert Bowman.

20th January 1682. Bond from Thomas Dalton to John Dalton for Performance of Covenants.

2nd December 1730. Indenture made between Thomas Dalton and Dorothy his wife of the one part and John Read of the other part.

2nd December 1730. Indenture made between the same parties as are to last mentioned Indenture.

13th June 1739. Indenture made between John Hay and Margaret Graham and James Selby – her son on the one part and John Read of the other part.

17th December 1750. Indenture made between John Dalton of the one part and Daniel Bond of the other part.

26th December 1757. Indenture made between Robert Bowman of Little Corby of the one part and Robert Bowman of Bridgewoodfoot of the other part by way of Mortgage.

23rd February 1773. Indenture of three parts between the last named Robert Bowman of the first part the said Robert Bowman of Little Corby of the second part and Thomas Irwin of the third part, by way of Mortgage.

16th May 1776. Indenture of four parts made between the said Thomas Irwin of the first part Robert Bowman of the second part Margaret Bowman of the third part and James Read of the fourth part.

13th June 1780. Bond from Joseph Bond to James Read, to indemnify against Dower etc.

6th June 1790. Copy of the last Will and Testament of James Read.

31st December 1790. Indenture made between Elizabeth Read of the one part and the said Walter Irwin of the other part.

22nd & 23rd June 1798. Indenture of Lease and Release made between the said Walter Irwin of the one part and the said John Kirkbride of the other part whereby the aforesaid Messuages etc. are conveyed and assured unto the said John Kirkbride his Heirs and Assigns subject to Redemption on Payment by the said Walter Irwin his Heirs Executors or Administrators unto the said John Kirkbride his Executors Administrators or Assigns of the Sum of Three Hundred pounds on the 23rd Day of June next with Interest at Five percent.perann. but reducible to Four pounds 11/8d each Hundred viz. eleven pence the pound if paid on said Day or within one Calendar Month thereof."
